Liberia Proposes National Mining Company and Gold Refinery

On 28 October 2026, President Joseph Boakai announced plans to establish a national mining company and a gold refinery to increase domestic mineral processing and value addition. The announcement was made at LIMEC 2026, but no confirmed capital requirement, acquisition price or investment timetable was disclosed.
